Koala count at Morewell National Park

Leader: Ken Harris

There were seven participants – four took the Stringybark track and spotted 6 males and 1 female, while three took the Fosters Gully track, seeing 1 male and 1 female in Grey Gums and hearing a male. A group of children joined the Fosters Gully group and spotted the first koala!

Plants observed along the Fosters Gully track included bird orchids, butterfly orchid leaves, waxlip, rapanea (seeds), Wonga Vine, clematis, maiden hair and shield ferns.
Two swamp wallabies, one with joey, were seen adjacent to the car park.

The weather cleared and participants enjoyed a sunny afternoon.
